Dinner near the shopping area by Hotel Wien

Day2:  Visit to Schorrnbrunn castle, excellent history of Austria, beautiful gardens; there was a Christmas market in the front courtyard which was quite large and beautiful. Christmas Eve Dinner at Grand Brasserie, Hotel Wien.  IN the afternoon we headed to  the Rathausplatz market which is in front of the  town hall and is the largest market there. It has skating rink that is paths in the gardens surrounded by beautifully decorated trees and festive scene. We sampled all the food at the market working our way through soup in a bread bowl, freshly made waffles, fresh potato chips and topped it off with mulled wine and lastly  the schnitzel.

Day3: Train in ride from Vienna to Salzburg which took over 4 hours and was very scenic.

Day4:Dinner Stiftskeller St Peter with a live Mozart Concert. The entrance is a very pretty courtyard and then upstairs is the restaurant where dinner iss erved with a prixe fix menu.

Day5:Train ride back to Vienna with a full day in Vienna for more sightseeing and shopping; we stayed at the Grand Hotel Sacher as a special treat. It is an amazing hotel that has hosted many celebrities and the movie "Woman in Gold" was filmed in the beautiful  lobby where we had after-dinner drinks. The breakfast is totally amazing in a room that is playing Mozart music in the background, the décor is old luxury and brings you back to the times of Mozart and feels like you are in a palace.

Vienna is very easy to get around - we took a taxi from the airport to the center of the city where we were staying. You can buy a day pass - if you are using it more than for 2 rides it is quite cost efficient and that way you do not have to keep buying tickets -the metro which is very convenient and easy to navigate. The tram lines run all over the city and are very easy to use. the day pass is great option otherwise you need change to pay for the fare on the trams.
