Bordeaux is a beautiful town that is an entry way to the vineyards. We visited for a short stay and walked around the town, by the river, ate delicious food and of course lots of good wine.

A good place for lunch is - La Brasserie Bordelaise, www.brasserie-bordelaise.fr located at 50 rue Saint Remi, 33000 Bordeaux, +33 5 57 87 11 91

Bordeaux is very easy to get around as there are trams that run very frequently and quite easy to use. There is a transportation office in the center of town so be sure to visit that for a map and to buy tickets- if you plan on moving around a lot you can buy a day pass.

We visited the wine museum which is a must-see – it is very new architecture and has lots of hands-on experience not to be missed. The ticket includes a glass of wine in their bar on the top level which has great view. Most hotels sell the tickets for the wine museum and also the tram tickets.

Saint Emilion is a one hour ride and we took a taxi back and forth as there was a train strike and the bus goes there only once a day for which the timings were not convenient. It is worth a visit - very charming and quaint, we ate lunch in a terrace overlooking the Monolithic Church. After lunch we toured the church which is totally amazing – buy the tickets online before you leave home as they do tend to get sold out.

The macaroons are not to be missed – do stop at the store and buy some, there are signs that show where the store is – it is in the main square in front of the entrance to the Monolithic Church.
